MY VALUES

COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION

I humbly commit myself to act as an agent of change for the furtherance of diversity, equity, and inclusion for all people in our community. I pledge to respect the dignity of every human being through my words and actions, as an ally to those of every race, creed, culture, and gender identification, loving people for who they are.

As a middle-aged, middle-class white woman and nonprofit professional, I acknowledge my privileges and past complicities. I am grateful beyond measure to all those who have opened my eyes to the realities of systemic racism and how it plays out in their lives so I can do better. Together, we will work to break the low funding cycle experienced by grassroots organizations and those led by people of color.

In my role as a consultant, I will support my clients’ movements toward equity. I will listen to and learn from your experiences. Together, we will prepare materials that consistently represent your organization’s culture and goals.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The land that is now called Winston-Salem, NC served for centuries as a place for exchange and interaction for Indigenous peoples, specifically the Saura, Catawba, Cherokee, and Lumbee communities. I also acknowledge the Ojibwe and other Indigenous peoples of my home state of Michigan.

I WANT TO DO BETTER

I invite those reading this statement to let me know where I’ve fallen short so I may do better.
